The Boardwalk Summer Dress
Salt-water taffy, sweat trickling down your shoulder blades, hot pink sunsets on the pier with your ice cold lemonade. This is what inspired the boardwalk summer dress.
Boardwalks are a staple of summer, and I love them all. Coney Island is a staple of an NYC summer. The blinking lights of amusement park rides, Nathan’s hot dogs, and sneaking vodka into enormous lemonades while you trot down the pier and people watch… Or the west coast Santa Monica pier. Biking down to Venice Beach to watch the talented (and really untalented) skaters roll in and out of graffitied ramps, and bronzed surfer dudes dipped in and out of waves. Salted caramel ice cream, followed by tacos and tequila, because in the summer, why not have dessert first.

I wanted a summer dress as light and fluffy as cotton candy. I wanted it to breathe in the heat, and not be too stiff with the cotton. And most importantly, I wanted to look pretty -and so the Boardwalk summer dress was born.
The dress features modern lace work on the bottom of the skirt and along the straps of the sleeves. To keep you cool as a cucumber, the dress also features lace-down sides so you can show a little skin, but not more than you want.

- I used Blush Pink to capture the fading sunlight, broken shells, and sweet taffy's available all summer long.
- Stormy Gray and Champagne White to evoke the glistening of melting ice cream, and sparkling of the sea
- Sailor Blue was my accent color because a boardwalk is never far from the water!
To complete the look all you need is a 4mm / G-6 hook, a flexible measuring tape, and a good pair of yarn scissors .
This pattern was released together with 5 other patterns to make up my 2018 summer collection. Inspired by the seaside. To read more about the full collection and the other designs read the full blog post here.
